THE KIGALI AMENDMENT TO MONTREAL PROTOCOL

The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty designed to protect the atmosphere by terminating gradually the production of substances that deplete the ozone layer. It was first agreed on in September 1987, and come into effect on January 1989.This protocol has welcomed as exceptional international co-operation due to it widespread adoption and implementation. This protocol is having a great success worldwide because evidences from researches show that cases of skin cancer have been avoided, and so have tens of millions of cases of eye cataracts as a result of the Montreal Protocol(UNEP, 2016).

Globally, environmental hazards are increasingly occurring, they endanger human health and possessions. These can be reduced through informed people in adopting strategies towards mitigating them before, especially through activities promoting sustainable use of resources and increasing awareness among population.
Therefore, Nature Rwanda empower environmental clubs for initiating and engaging youth as future leaders in biodiversity conservation through information, knowledge, and experience sharing, finding solutions to current challenges, and developing future environment friendly decisions for environment protection and advocacy. It is in this context, Nature Rwanda empowered E.S Rwahi, the school located in Rulindo District and distributed PACE books.
